About the Mob...

Another show, you may or may not consider to be a soap is "The Sopranos," premiered on January 10, 1999, on HBO. The series was created by David Chase. Since 1999, the show has won multiple Emmys, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, DGA Awards, TCA Awards, and Peabody Awards.

Tony Soprano, who appears to be your average, middle-aged businessman, has a dutiful wife, a not-so-dutiful son, a daughter named Meadow, an uncle who's losing his marbles, a hot-headed nephew, a not-too-secret mistress, and a shrink to tell all his secrets to. Except the secret she already knows, that Tony's a mob boss, who's troubles are wrapped up in his two families.

Creator, Chase said the sixth season, which will air in two parts in 2006 and 2007, will be the last. Season Six of "The Sopranos" take off about two years after the events of season five. Mobster Tony Soprano is living back at home with his wife, Carmela, and trying to keep the always tense relationship between the New Jersey and New York crews calm. Meanwhile, New York boss, Johnny Sack's upcoming RICO trial has Tony pondering his future. Watch out "Scarface" and "The Godfather," I think you've got some true competition here! Talk about some real gangsters, "The Sopranos" is it! This family and their associates have the look, the feel, and the attitude of the a real mob! "The Sopranos" airs on Sundays at 10 p.m., on HBO.
